Best AMD AM3+ Motherboards 2012

The super stable military grade components along with the overclock genie make this board one of the easier ones I’ve come across for overclocking.

2. Asus M4A89GTD PRO/USB3 Socket AM3 AMD 890GX/SB850 6 SATA USB 3.0 ATX Motherboard

Asus makes a great quality board and when looking for a 890GX chipset to add to this list the M489GTD Pro stood out as a solid selection. Specifications include up to 16 GB of Dual channel DDR 3 memory – 2000(O.C.), 1333, 1066. For the price you also get Sata 6Gb/s compatibility, USB 3.0 compatibilty, as well as D-Sub, DVI, and HDMI ports on the back of the board. Other features include Core Unlocker, Turbo Key II for simple overclocking, GPU Boost, TurboV EVO, ASUS Express Gate, and the ASUS EPU Engine. A 3 year parts and labor warranty is included.

3. ASUS M4A88TD-V EVO/USB3 – AM3 – AMD 880G – DDR3 – USB 3.0 SATA 6 Gb/s – ATX Motherboard

If you’re looking for a great mid-range motherboard for gaming, then the Asus M4A88TD-V EVO  might just be the one you’re looking for. At around $120 you get a customer choice winner from NewEgg and everything you need to run AMD’s most recently released processors. Includes 2 x PCI Express 2.0 x16, up to 16 GB DDR3 ram, onboard Realtek 8111E, HDMI, D-sub, and DVI ports, 4 x USB 2.0, 2 x USB 3.0, Sata 6Gb/s compatibility, and all the other bells and whistles that higher-end motherboards provide. 3 Year parts and labor warranty included.

4. ASRock AM3 processors AMD 770-140W 4DDR3/ATI CrossFireX motherboard M3A770DE

This is the best bang-for-your buck you’ll find out there period. Where else can you get this nice of a board for under $60 that has 2 x PCI Express 2.0 x16 slots? It supports up to 16 gb ram, has 4 x Sata 3Gb/s, 4 x USB 2.0, and supports the latest in AMD CPU technology. Another thought from me is that this would be a great motherboard for an inexpensive $500 gaming rig setup. Ok, so it’s not that great to look at, but you can hide it behind a great looking case.

5. GIGABYTE AMD 990FX + SB950 AM3+ SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard GA-990FXA-UD3

The Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3 is not the cheapest motherboard on the planet but the look is awesome, it’s from Gigabyte so you know it’s stable, and the price is in the low to -mid range when compared with other motherboards with its specifications.

Specifications include expansion slots of 4 (x16, x16, x4, x4), 6 x SATA 6Gb/s, up to 32 GB DDR3 ram, 8 x USB 2.0, 2 x USB 3.0, Ultra Durable 3 – Classic and comes with a 3 year parts and labor warranty from Gigabyte.

If you are in to high-performance, then you should strongly consider the Asus Sabertooth TUF series. The TUF parts allow for better heat dissipation. When it’s not hot your hardware performs at a higher level and lasts longer.
